Cheque-writing tip
Banks in India require the amount in words to match the figures exactly. Always end with "Only" — e.g. Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Only — to prevent tampering.

Two number systems, side by side
- Indian: ones → tens → hundreds → thousands → lakhs → crores → arabs. 12,50,000 = "Twelve lakh fifty thousand".
- International: ones → tens → hundreds → thousands → millions → billions. 1,250,000 = "One million two hundred fifty thousand".
- Same number — two readings. Cheques & legal docs in India use the Indian system. International invoices use the International system.
Currency: when prefix selected, the converter appends "Rupees"/"Dollars" before the integer words and "Paise/Cents" after the decimal portion. Otherwise just the bare number words.
