EPS caps your pension at ₹7,500/mo
8.33% of your basic (capped at ₹1,250/mo since September 2014 under the old rules) diverts to the EPS pension scheme, which pays a fixed ₹7,500/mo max regardless of your salary. Only the remaining employer slice compounds at the EPF rate.

Where does your 12% + 12% actually go?
- Employee 12%: fully into your EPF account, earns declared interest (8.25% for FY25)
- Employer 12%: split — 8.33% of basic (max ₹1,250/mo) → EPS pension; the rest → your EPF
- On ₹25K basic: EE ₹3,000 + ER-EPF ₹1,750 + EPS ₹1,250 = ₹6,000 total monthly
- On ₹1L basic: EE ₹12,000 + ER-EPF ₹10,750 + EPS ₹1,250 (still capped!) = ₹24,000
2024-25 update: the Supreme Court allowed higher-pension opt-in with joint option, but most employees are still on the capped EPS. This calculator assumes the standard rule — verify on your EPF passbook if you opted for higher pension.
