How CGPA is weighted
CGPA = Σ(SGPA × credits) ÷ Σ(credits). Semesters with more credits (heavy lab/project work) pull the final number harder — enter credits accurately.

Why credits matter
Not all semesters are equal: a final-year project-heavy semester might carry 28 credits while a light semester has 18. The credit-weighted formula ensures heavy semesters move the CGPA more accurately than a simple average.
- 8.5+ CGPA → usually meets competitive placement cutoffs (TCS, Infosys, Wipro first screens)
- 7.5+ CGPA → meets most PSU/GATE eligibility corridors
- 6.5+ CGPA → eligible for most private-sector campus jobs
